The Seale branding iron which bears the letter S has a straight wooden handle mounted on the end of its iron shaft. The S is finished in serifs. This branding iron was used by Tom Seales grandfather Dick Seale who was also a herd for Lord Ashtown of Woodlawn estate.  Red was the colour used by the Seales. There was also a brand with the letter A for Ashtown.  That branding iron is now lost.  Toms father was herd for Dereck Trench who bought Woodlawn House later. The identity of the blacksmith who made it is unknown. Information provided by Tom Seale Woodlawn.
