Culleendaegh Head
Woodford carved head.
Christy Cunniffe
This interesting medieval carved head was on the apex of a grotto in Culleendaegh graveyard opposite Ballinagarr House near Woodford. It was stolen from the site a number of years ago. Its presence at this site is a bit of a mystery. It seems that it may originally have been taken from Kinalehan friary and reused to ornament this grotto. It is a well carved piece with the detail of the eyes and ears very well executed. Should any reader recognize the piece please contact me at 087 9697692.
