Comprises of a rectangular limestone baptismal font in the Lady Chapel of Kilcorban, Third Order Dominican friary. The font has a rebate around the rim for a lid. It is of late medieval date and lacks decoration with the exception of chamfers to the corners. The pedestal and base are missing. A baptismal font for the cure of souls was one of the prerequisites for parish church status. It is obvious that the friars in Kilcorban were functioning as local parish clergy. A very fine enthroned polychromed Madonna and Child now in the diocesan museum in Loughrea originated from Kilcorban. this side chapel dedicated to our lady was the private burial space pf the Burkes and later the Nugents.
