Galway County Council procured the services of Aegis Archaeology to prepare a Conservation Management Plan for St Grellan’s Church and Graveyard, Co. Galway, a monument in the ownership of the Local Authority.

Medieval Parish Church

St Grellan’s is an example of a medieval parish church, with several important elements adding to its regional significance. A record of the upstanding remains and a condition survey was carried out as part of the report. A detailed inventory of the features and issues were compiled.

Community Monuments Fund 2024

The report was funded through the Community Monuments Fund, National Monuments Service, Department of Housing, Local Government & Heritage and administered through Galway County Council. This will inform all stakeholders on the future conservation and preservation of this unique monument.
