International Day for Monuments and Sites 2024

To Celebrate International Day for Monuments and Sites 2024 Galway Community Archaeology Project  organised a tour to a number of sites and monuments that received Community Monuments Funding in the County of Galway.

Field Trip Details

A bus left Galway County Council Offices picking up at Oranmore , Athenry , Galway Plaza and Loughrea.  visiting Kilboght, Abbeygormican and St Kerrills, Gurteen. The aim was to highlight sites that would not normally get exposure and showcase community monuments at their best. People involved in community projects and an interest in archaeology or ecclesiastical heritage learned more about conservation projects and had a fun day out.  This was a free event supported by Galway County Council Heritage Office.

Galway Community Archaeology Project is funded by Galway County Council and The Heritage Council.
