18th- /19th-century limekiln on Colmanstown Estate. Constructed in limestone. Well built dressed stone facade. Limekilns are found on many estates and were used to burn broken limestone. The lime was put to a number of uses. It was used as a lime wash, as a bonding element in building and as a fertiliser.
