The Community Archive and Heritage Group conference was held in Ireland for the first time and co-hosted with the Irish Community Archive Network, National Museum of Ireland, Galway County Council, and Hardiman Library NUI Galway. The event was set within the excellent facilities of the National University of Ireland, Galway.

This was a celebration of the richness and diversity of community archives and heritage across the UK and Ireland; attracting participants from groups, organisations, institutions and individuals who are passionate about the difference and change we can make when working together and learning from one another. The Daoine agus Ait Project was a wonderful backdrop for people attending.

Among those in attendance were keynote speakers Virginia Teehan, CEO of The Heritage Council and Martina Maloney, Chairperson ,The Heritage Council. They commended and highlighted  grassroots enthusiasm and contribution to heritage and the importance of supporting such projects through the Heritage Officers Programme and community grants schemes. Galway Community Archaeology Project is funded by Galway County Council and The Heritage Council.
