ICOMOS Sites and Monuments Day 2026
Galway Community Archaeologist Bernie Doherty hosted ICOMOS Sites and Monument Day 2026 Celebrating Galway Community Monuments Clonfert, Kilmeen and Kilboght. After a tour of St Brendan’s Cathedral, Clonfert the group went to Dessie O’Brien’s where a podcast for Kilmeen was listened to starring Claire Besnyoe, Ballydoogan House. The newly published Kilboght – Church of the Poor was also launched. The group proceeded to Kilboght for a tour before going home.
