Ardrahan Church ladder shelter

Ladder Shelter
Christy Cunniffe

This ladder shelter is fitted on the west wall of Ardrahan graveyard. Interestingly a section of the original wooden ladder used to maintain the church roof and eves still survives in-situ. These particular pieces of graveyard furniture are features associated with Church of Ireland graveyards. Where they occur, they should be noted and recorded. This example is roofed with a series of Liscannor slabs. Iron hooks beneath support the ladder under the roof of the shelter to protect it from the prevailing weather.
