O'Donnellan datestone

O' Donnellan plaque
Christy Cunniffe

Now exhibited externally in Aughrim Heritage Park this limestone plaque supposedly from Ballydonnellan Castle may have originally formed part of a large fireplace. It has a bevelled edge suggesting that it was used in a manner in which this was meant to be seen. It bears an inscription which reads; Tuly ODonelan 1412. The left side of the plaque is damaged and some of it is missing.
