National Monuments Service
What to do when you make an underwater discovery
Discoveries of wrecks over 100 years old must be reported to the National Monuments Service or An Garda Síochána within four days. Reports of new discoveries of archaeological monuments are also very much appreciated by the National Monuments Service. The discovery of archaeological objects must be reported to the National Museum of Ireland or another legally designated person within four days of discovery. Galway Community Archaeologist can assist you with this process. More information is available on The National Monuments Service Website www.archaeology.ie. The National Monuments Service Wreck Viewer Map may be accessed here.
