Somebody made a bonfire against this milestone causing serious damage. I would like to make a plea to people to consider where they place celebratory fires. Bonfires are a traditional feature in some parts of Ireland and I would not want to see that stopped. I do feel however, that due care has to be taken especially when dealing with aspects of our collective heritage.
